Experiential Learning

The fundamental approach to achieving targeted goals and outcomes is through Experiential Learning.

Experiential Learning is defined as “learning by doing with reflection” (Plan-Do-Review). This philosophy is based on the belief that people learn best by direct and purposeful contact with their learning experiences. Simply put, the best way to learn about problem solving is not to read about it in a book, but to actively practice solving problems in a ‘hands-on’ setting. Such learning experiences are realistic: physically active, cognitively meaningful, and affectively engaging. These experiences require learners to accept responsibility for their own actions and to learn from guided reflection on their experiences (Kraft, 1985). Reflection on their experience is a necessary precursor to learning, for without reflection, learning loses much of its potential value.
